New Blog
So I don't know if anyone really cared or noticed that I stopped posting on this blog, but it has been a very long while. I have basically abandoned this site since starting my blog at school. I post each day what is going on with my classes, but also write some random posts under my "random thoughts" category. I cannot make my blog an official part of blogger as it is not connected. You can however go to the following link if you are interested in my current thoughts and class curriculum. "blog.weber.k12.ut.us/tyking" GO AGGIES!!!

True Fans
I follow all of the local sports blogs such as ksl.com, deseretnews.com, and sltrib.com pretty dang close. It is amazing to me how many people down south that post their thoughts online find so much joy in seeing the Aggies fail. I just don't get it. Maybe they think myself and other Aggies will stop being fans if they talk enough smack on the Ags and their weak schedule. I have been an Aggie for the last 16 years and 25-3 is special. Don't get me wrong, the losses to Boise and Saint Mary's are very big disapointments, but I am just as big an Aggie as I have ever been. Heck, I am a huge Aggie Football fan. I can't wait for the opener next year against the Utes in Salt Lake. True fans stick by their teams no matter what, and if you can't get excited about 25-3 you have no right to be a fan of anything. Best of luck to the Ags against the Wolfpack at home in the WAC tourney. It won't be easy, but it must be done if Aggie Blue wants an invite to the Big Dance. Go State!!!!

Jack is Back!

Sunday, January 11th at 8:00 Eastern/7:00 Central the wait is over for 24 fans all over the world! Thanks to the fabulous writer's strike last Fall/Winter the debut of Season 7 was delayed for over a year. Lucky for me, my wife had only seen Seasons 4-6 and was happy to take the time to catch up with Seasons 1-3 on the backlog. We were luckier than most 24 fans as we got our fix with some older versions of Jack Bauer. Even with that to tide us over we are both very happy to see some new 24 action starting tommorow. For those of you who have never had the opportunity to see Jack, (the Macgyver, Eastwood, Norris mix), I would encourage you to tune in to Fox tomorrow evening. So what if you missed the first 6 seasons. You can always do some sweet Netflix action and catch up in the off season. Go Jack, and as always, Go State!!

Coach Gary Andersen

Wow! Let me start off by saying that I am totally psyched that the Ex-Defensive Coordinator for the U of U has been hired to coach Utah State Football. I just finished watching the Utes beat up on Alabama (roll tide me eye) in the Sugar Bowl. Their offense played well, but how about that amazing defense. I can't wait to see a brand of that played by the Aggies.
As you may have already noticed I very much agree with Utah State's choice in the newest head football coach. I am also fairly impressed with the staff he has put together. I did hope that he could bring along a few more of his fellow Ute coaches, but Whitingham seemed to hold on to most of them. I believe that his staff will successfully help him live up to the promises he has made concerning Aggie Football under his command. He has promised to recruit great players from the state of Utah including Polynesian players, returned missionaries, and other great prospects from out of state. He will go head to head with Utah and BYU for the best recruits from the state. He has already got letters of intent from various high quality players in Cache Valley and other areas in the state that were highly recruited by the teams down South. Each member of his stuff is known as a great recruiter and has found success throughout their career. He has also promised to compete in the top third of the WAC and fight for the title against WAC big dawgs, Boise St. Maybe this does not impress you, but after seeing his initial press conference I can see that he has a clear vision, and I believe he can make it a reality.
I was never one that had big complaints with the former Head Coach Brent Guy. I thought he had a good plan and good football mind. His fault were found in a lack of motivation and excitement. I don't think he had the personality necessary to help his players buy into his vision. Gary Andersen does! If you don't believe me just copy and paste the following link (http://usuaggies.com/?paged=5) where you can watch his press conference where he is named as the new head coach in its entirety. It is found about half way down the page.
The Aggies have some very young talent that showed bits of greatness this past season. If you take away the 52 yard game winning field goal for Fresno St. the Aggies have a 4 win season. Now, that is not great but it is something to build on. Also, besides the Utah and Boise games the Aggies were in every one. I predict that next season will be the Aggies first bowl eligible season in over 10 years. I also predict that we will get a bid to the New Mexico Bowl where we will defeat a Mountain West Conference opponent.
Best of luck to Coach Andersen and his incoming staff. I very much look forward to attending the games next season as the Aggies get over the hump and once again into bowl eligibility. Go State!!!

The Good Old Boys (BYU Fans)
Well, it has been a very long while since I have posted anything on this beast. I need to post my feelings about the new USU Football coaching staff, but that will have to wait a bit longer. This past Friday Amanda and I were able to hook up with a couple of my ex-mission companions/really good friends and their wives for dinner at the Red Robin in Layton. It was really great to catch up on life with Brad and Brick and to meet their wives. It had been almost four years since I had seen those guys. It was super cool to talk about the good old days back on the mish in Chile as well as remember so many of the friends we made down there. Emorie has recently developed this thing where she gets really bored and thus hard to handle at restaurants. Since she has started walking all over the world it just drives her nuts to have to sit still. It was still great for the old mission crew to get to meet her.
I would also like to make a qualifying statement about BYU fans at this time. Brad graduated from BYU, and Brick is attending the U of U, but grew up in BYU land thus they are both BYU fans. If you know me well you might commonly hear me comment on the annoying, prideful nature of BYU fans. Let me just say that there are at least a few, including these friends of mine, that do not fit that mold. They are quality fans that simply want to support their school, and although I will never find great joy in Cougar success, I can support where Brick and Brad are coming from. Here's to you guys and to all collegiate sports in the state of Utah. May next year be full of success across the board. But especially, Go State!!!
P.S. Brad loves to see the Aggies do well, and Brick is also a huge fan of the boys in Logan!!!
Way to represent guys!

Show Your True Blue!
I just found out that BYU fans are being encouraged to wear white to the game. For all you Aggie fans heading to the ESA, be sure to have on your true blue aparrel in order to drown out the white Cougars. Go State!!!
USU/BYU Preview
So here is my most non-bias take on Saturday's big game. I will go ahead and say that BYU's backcourt that includes Cummard and Tavernari is a little more talented and definetely more experienced than the Aggies backcourt including Myaer, and Quayle. However, it is also clear to me that USU's inside game is much more talented and experienced than BYU's. I firmly believe that a strong inside game will trump a strong outside game any day of the week. That being said, as long as Wilkinson and Wesli can hold their own inside I predict a 76-71 win for my very own true blue Aggies of Utah State. Me, Amanda and Emorie will be there along with various members of my and Amanda's family screaming our guts out for the Ags. I hope to see as many true blue as possible as we bring the Spectrum to Dave Rose (that is terrified of playing in Logan for good reason) and Salt Lake City. Go State!!!
